The Organization of Education, Culture, Sports and Social Provision of the Municipality of Katerini continues a sustained effort to reduce the energy footprint of its buildings. The Organization of Education, Culture, Sports and Social Provision, as a Legal Entity under Public Law of the Municipality of Katerini, has concluded a Programme Agreement with the Municipality of Katerini for the implementation of the Project of the EEA 2014-2021 GR-ENERGY Programme. The Organization of Education, Culture, Sports and Social Provision is the body that implements the social policy of the Municipality of Katerini as it has under its supervision social infrastructures such as sports facilities, elderly care centers and schools.
The choice of the Organization of Education, Culture, Sports and Social Provision and the Municipality of Katerini for the GR-ENERGY Programme includes the 2nd Municipal Stadium of Katerini, a very important sports venue for the region, as it houses the indoor swimming pool, the indoor basketball and handball gym of the city and the sports shooting facility, which aims to mobilize the active population groups of the region.
Through this mobilization, citizens will come into close contact with the advantages of modern technologies, with the hope that a significant number of these young people will adopt sustainable development practices in their daily lives.
The project involves the conversion of the City's 2nd Municipal Stadium into a modern, energy-efficient sports center. The project concerns the energy upgrade of 3 buildings:
- Indoor basketball court.
- Indoor swimming pool.
- Indoor sports shooting facility.
